Our Story
The desire to grow things has been a lifelong part of Scott and Nadine's lives. Nadine grew up on a farm in Idaho's high dessert, growing sugar beets, alfalfa, wheat, and barley, and as an adult has been planting/nurturing pollinator gardens for years. Scott developed his green thumb in his green house using aquaponics to grow a massive garden in Boise, Idaho. The desire to grow cider apples and making hard cider has developed over 15+ years, starting with a passion for home brewing, and then continued by planting cider apple trees at past homes in Idaho,
When Scott & Nadine relocated to New England from Idaho in 2022, the reality of having a full size cider apple orchard seemed possible. Scott enthusiastically ordered cider root stocks and scions in 2022, with a planned 2023 delivery, not knowing for sure where they would be planted.
The cider apple root stocks and scions arrived Spring 2023, and ~100 trees were grafted and planted in 20 gallon bags in their driveway in New Hampshire until they found their new growing home in Vermont, finally planted in the ground September 2023
.
Nadine & Scott are continuing to learn more about local cider culture, planting ~1000 more trees and starting a fruit and veggie garden in 2024, knowing it will take 3-5 years to have mature fruit production for cider making. In the mean time, they are enjoying hiking and biking the beautiful forests and mountains of New England with their dogs.
